About these terms

These terms apply to every purchase from Route500 Scotland ("we", "us") through route500scotland.com: the Route500 Scotland Travel Mug, and the Route500 Trip Plan Collection. Please read them before you buy. By placing an order you agree to them.

1. Who we are

2. What you are buying

The Route500 Scotland Travel Mug is a physical product: a 20 oz / 590 ml double-wall vacuum insulated stainless steel travel mug in powder-coated Highland Navy with a laser-engraved mark and a clear slide-lock lid. It is sent to you by post.

The Route500 Trip Plan Collection is a set of four digital documents, the 5-Day, 7-Day, 10-Day and 14-Day Trip Plans, each supplied as a PDF. They are digital content, not physical goods. Nothing is posted to you.

3. Price and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling. Shipping on the Travel Mug is free. Payment is taken in full when you order through our payment provider, Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.

4. Your order and our contract

We accept your order when payment has been authorised and we send your order confirmation email. We may cancel and refund an order if an item is unavailable or priced in error. Product photographs are illustrative; the engraving and colour may vary very slightly from the images.

5. Delivery

The Travel Mug is sent with free tracked shipping. Delivery estimates, customs and duties are set out on our Shipping page, which forms part of these terms. The Trip Plan Collection is delivered by email and on the confirmation page straight after payment. If the email has not arrived within an hour, check junk or promotions, then contact us and we will resend the links.

6. Right to cancel and returns: Travel Mug

You can cancel your Travel Mug order within 14 days of the day it is delivered and return it for a refund, as set out on our Returns page, which forms part of these terms. You must tell us before sending it back, return it unused and in its original packaging, and pay the cost of returning it.

7. Right to cancel: Trip Plan Collection

Because the plans are digital content delivered immediately, the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 ends once delivery begins. At checkout you request immediate delivery and acknowledge that this ends your right to cancel; by paying, you give that consent. For this reason we do not offer refunds for a change of mind once the delivery email has been sent.

8. Faulty goods and your legal rights

Nothing in these terms affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If the Travel Mug is faulty, damaged or not as described, or if a plan file is faulty, corrupted or not as described, contact us and we will replace it or refund you, as described on our Returns page.

9. Care of the mug

Hand wash only. Not for carbonated drinks. The mug is not covered for damage caused by misuse, dishwashers, or dropping.

10. Your licence to use the plans

When you buy the Collection we grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to download, store, print and use the plans for your own trips, for as long as you like. You may make copies for the people travelling with you. You may not sell, rent, publish, share online or otherwise distribute the plans or any part of them, remove our branding, or use the content to create a competing product. All copyright and other rights in the plans remain with Route500 Scotland.

11. Accuracy of the plans and third-party information

The plans describe a route through remote country and refer to businesses and places we do not control: hotels, campsites, cafes, attractions, car parks and roads. Opening hours, prices, availability, road conditions and closures change, and we cannot promise that every detail is current on the day you travel. Please check with the venue before you rely on it, book accommodation directly with the operator, and follow road signs, local advice and weather warnings over anything in a plan.

Navigation links open Google Maps, a service provided by Google under its own terms. Route notes and the Offline Navigation Guide are practical suggestions, not a substitute for your own judgement as the driver. You are responsible for driving safely and legally.

12. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss that was not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, for loss caused by a third party's information or services, or for business losses. Our total liability to you in connection with a purchase will not exceed the price you paid for it.

13. Changes

We update the plans from time to time. Buying the Collection does not entitle you to future editions, although we may choose to send them. We may change these terms for future purchases; the version in force when you order is the one that applies to you.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may also rely on the consumer protection rules of the part of the UK in which you live. Disputes may be brought in the Scottish courts or, if you live in another part of the UK, in the courts of that part.
